what sights every traveller must visit in the Caucasus Mountains
The main three areas every traveller comes here to see are mount Elbrus, village Arkhyz and village Dombay. Surely, there are many other places that will astound you with their magnificent beauty! But these three are the main points:
Elbrus. The two peaks of Mt Elbrus (the western at 5642m and eastern at 5621m) bulge nearly 1000m above anything else in the vicinity. Many people come to climb or ski the Europe highest mountain, cable cars carrying passengers as high as 3847m make it easy going for those who just wish to admire the view.
Dombay. Even those well travelled in the world’s most beautiful wilderness areas can only gape in awe when they first see Dombay with their own eyes. Here you can enjoy he best scenery – on foot, skis, horseback or by jeep. Besides, this is a popular skiing resorts with a great variety of ski tracks.
Arkhyz. Arkhyz - the newest and high developed skiing resort in the south of Russia. The longest ski track is about 3000 metres long. The views are breathtaking! The choice of activities here is very rich: skiing,mountain hiking, biking, jeeping, horse riding, rufting, sight-seeing (ancien temples, astrophysical observatory, etc) and just relaxing in a picturesque and wild area, surrounded by woods, mountains, rivers, waterfalls and lakes.
